Very light weight M30L Backpack Rucksack
GerardKenny, Ireland, Orders: 4, Reviews: 2
Size 30 l

This is my second Camp M30 rucksack. The M30 is extremely light and this is by far the biggest reason why I buy it. It is comfortable to wear. Being light means that it will not be as durable, not as waterproof ( I use plastic bags inside) and long lasting as a tougher material bags. However I want light and this is the lightest 30L I could find. I also have the M4 which is 40L and just 1050g empty, ideal for my ski touring hut to hut and summer alpine 2 week excursions ( I have had 3 of them over the years). Unfortunately it seems the M4 is discontinued, please bring it back. I have given my M30 and M4 bags a very rough time as I use them a lot in rough terrain , wet weather, coarse rock routes, dirty wet bog areas etc etc.. They survive my tests. They are of course a bit pricey. I highly recommend them if you need light weight.

Does not meet my quality requirements
Georg, Germany, Orders: 1, Reviews: 1
Size 30 l

I bought the backpack as a replacement for the earlier, first M30 model, which is now no longer in use after several years. The old one was a real all-rounder for me - if it hadn't been for the material being far too thin. Unfortunately, this new M30L is nowhere near as good as the old one and is therefore being returned to the supplier.

Positive:
1. The material seems more robust to me than its predecessor.
2. The lid pocket is now removable.

I find negative:
1. The inner padding of the back presses against the outer material of the backpack at the bottom, where the backpack rests in the hip area, with sharp edges. For me, this is a conscious or unconscious "predetermined breaking point". This means that the backpack will definitely wear through more quickly at this point.
2. The "balance system", consisting of the two upper adjustment straps, which are supposed to allow for adjustment of the load, compression and stabilization, is probably a good idea, but the execution is poor. The fabric area at the top, through which the two straps (right and left) run, has not been reinforced on the outer edge that is subject to stress. It is to be expected that the fabric will tear there within a very short time.
3. Removing the hip belt is almost impossible. Even if the backpack is not yet loaded, you can hardly get your fingers between the Velcro fasteners to loosen them so that you can pull the belt out to the right or left. And even if you manage to do that, you don't have a third hand to pull it with. If the backpack is loaded, which is certainly the case most of the time, if you want to remove the hip belt for climbing, it is completely impossible.
4. In my opinion, the hip belt is also too stiff, so it doesn't fit properly around the hips.
5. The "BackDoor" is also not very flexible, so that the back cushion is always bent when opened. This was solved better on the old M30. A more flexible back, at least in the bend area, would probably be more durable.
6. And last but not least, I miss the strap that you could use to fix the climbing rope at the top. The M20L still has it and this solution is much better than the one on the M30L.
