Petzl: the passion of a family
Petzl's mission is to develop innovative solutions, products and services that allow people to move, position, secure themselves in vertical terrain and have safe lighting in the dark. We are constantly looking for the right answers to users' needs in terms of efficiency, ergonomics, comfort and reliability. The requirements of users in practical use and their commitment determine our actions to accompany them in their quest for the "unattainable". And this for over 40 years.
Petzl: one name, values
The name Petzl on the products has always represented the commitment of the Petzl family to produce only the best equipment for users. The adventure began with Fernand Petzl's passion for speleology, to which he applied his talent for craftsmanship. This laid the foundation for expertise in the design and manufacture of solutions for ascending, rappelling, belaying and moving around in the dark. In 1970, in a workshop in Saint-Nazaire-les Eymes (Isère, France), the first products were manufactured under the name "Fernand Petzl". Founded in 1975, Petzl now employs over 800 people and has grown into an international group. To this day, Petzl has remained a family business that adheres to its values: maintaining its independence and ability to make decisions, developing a long-term vision, putting people first, and living up to its commitment to quality in manufacturing. Today, a family council, chaired by Paul Petzl, ensures the continuity of the company.
