Fenix 7 Pro is one of the top models in the outdoor sector. Compared to the Fenix 6 model, there have been significant technical improvements.
The battery has improved. A week of use without recharging (with the usual applications in practice) is realistic with the Fenix 7 Pro. In economy mode, it should even last several weeks (according to the watch's prediction). In sport mode, it is barely enough for an ultra-marathon. (The 7X model may have a little more reserve?)
The flashlight was added with model 7 (with 4x white light and 1x red light). It is actually useful in practice. The light cone is a long strip. The ground in front of me is clearly illuminated in the dark. (I haven't been able to test whether it is sufficient for outdoor use.)
The main new feature compared to model 6 is the touchscreen. It helps a lot with operation. But only as long as it is dry; with drops of water in the shower it goes crazy (but only) when touched. If necessary, you can also turn off the touchscreen. The screen resolution is good, and you can also see details on the map well. The time can be read during the day even without lighting.
Garmin's operating system has remained the same, very similar to its predecessor. However, it takes some getting used to for a newcomer. And one or two functions that you would like are still missing (e.g. a permanent overview display with many/all important sensor data or a mode in the car/bus). The operating system is therefore an (unnecessary) shortcoming of the watch.
Garmin supplies a set of maps for (almost) the entire world with the watch. These were out of date when delivered, but could be updated. To update, however, you have to open an account with Garmin. As always, special maps have to be purchased from Garmin. Mine included a ski map. But that's unnecessary. You can also load your own free maps onto the watch. (Simply copy the IMG file from your computer to the watch, then the map will be found.)
Pairing the watch with the Android phone is good. (I can't test Apple.)

Since the Model 6, Garmin has increased the price considerably. But there have been some improvements. The price is top class; the watch is inconspicuous. -- But maybe that's exactly right: 50 years ago my grandfather "lost" his gold watch in front of the museum in Naples. -- Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the Fenix 7 Pro is worth the price. Or maybe Model 6 is enough?
