The Edelrid Canary Pro Dry 8.6mm climbing rope is one of the thinnest and lightest single ropes on the market. The new winding technology 3D Lap Coiling makes the first unwinding of the rope superfluous.
- Bluesign certified - UIAA Water Repellent - innovative 3D lapcoiling - increased coat proportion: 47% - Area of application: all-round rope, ice climbing, glacier rope
The rope has a length of 53.6 m and weighs exactly 2973g.
One meter weight of 55.3.
Manufacturer specification is 51.
The color is great and the workmanship is top-notch but the competing product Beal Opera 8.5 is cheaper and lighter.
Even though we don't have the exact information and I know the background to these technical data, Beal is still a bit closer.
Edelrid advertises the rope as follows: "With a diameter of 8.6 mm and a weight of just 51g per meter, the Canary is one of the thinnest and lightest single ropes on the market." The one I bought has a shrinkage allowance of 2m and weighs 2940g / 52 = 56g / m, or around 400g more for 50m. Other ropes weighed in the store were also heavier than stated. Why don't the manufacturers state the actual weights?
