I was initially skeptical about the color - in most photos it looks black and white. In reality, the black is a kind of flip/flop paint job that glitters beautifully in multiple colors in the sun. Compared to other bikes, it may still look a bit plain - but for me, the overall package was what counted:
- The bike is approved for 156 kg - therefore also suitable for slightly heavier riders.
- The 130/120mm suspension travel is more than enough for me to thrash the bike along hiking trails - the damping absorbs everything wonderfully. On forest roads, all bumps are smoothed out - simply fantastic.
- The Shimano braking system is unexpectedly good. I can handle the dosage well and it also slows down properly. The 203/203mm discs deserve praise here. On normal routes they do their job perfectly. Only on a long, steep downhill section did we notice a smell and slight fading. With a few kilos less on our ribs, however, this problem will also be unnecessary.
- The retractable seat post is definitely worth the money: On steep descents in the terrain you have more freedom of movement (and therefore a lower center of gravity) - an increase in safety that should be worth a few euros more to everyone.
- The Yamaha motor is powerful enough for my taste - you can program the strength of the individual support levels using the Ride Control app. I usually ride at 50% and if necessary for short distances at 75% (or in automatic mode). This would theoretically allow me to manage around 2000 meters of altitude with the 500Wh battery - more than enough for my needs.
- The tires offer good grip on all surfaces - in the 2.6 width with the wide rims I ride them with 1.8 bar pressure (with a rider weight of 110 kg). I would never have thought that this was possible...
- The SRAM Eagle SX gears do their job well. Unfortunately, I can only compare them with my 11-year-old XTR on the Rotwild. This shifts like butter - the SRAM sometimes slams the gears in so that the whole frame shakes. It is possible that this is due to the design - a 12-speed pinion will require a correspondingly stronger spring
