It is too early to judge the product's main feature, i.e. the riding experience. Given the cold weather and my habit of rarely cycling in winter (although the need for special clothing is more specific for a road bike than for a mountain bike or cross bike), I have not ridden it other than one lap around the block. So I am hoping that spring will soon be here.
The bike arrived in almost intact packaging and showed no obvious damage.
I have something to complain about when it comes to the delivery itself. The delivery here in Germany was handled by the company Trans-o-Flex, based in Weinheim. While the delivery route in Austria was still handled by the post office there, which informed me of this in a similar way to DHL and others (although I should have opened an account for tracking - not interesting), Trans-o-Flex sent an SMS (yes, SMS) briefly stating that the delivery had been taken over - nothing else!
On day x, the doorbell rang at around 8:30 in the morning and the friendly delivery man appeared on his bike, out of nowhere, so to speak. Five minutes after accepting the delivery, I received a second text message informing me that the goods were now being loaded into the vehicle and would be delivered during the day. There would have been no way to communicate with trans-o-flex (text message as "noreply" and otherwise, as I said, nothing) if I had not been there at the time of delivery (which I should have known first), which was the case that same afternoon. And we are not talking about a T-shirt here, but a bike costing several thousand euros. I have already complained about this separately to sportokay.
It seems to be in keeping with the times that manufacturers are doing without any kind of useful paper. There was no description included, everything that Shimano supplied in large quantities was printed in every possible and impossible language, except German. And if you want to know something, ask the manufacturer's homepage, which is not always optimally structured, or just look for something on YouTube.
And I thought (probably due to my age) that there was something like a bike pass or something similar - but no luck. You have an invoice with all the relevant data. I say that because for me, as someone who has only ever bought fully assembled bikes from a dealer and who is pretty untrained when it comes to handicrafts, it just didn't work like this: "... quickly mount the handlebars, quickly push in the front wheel (first wheel with thru axle), put the pedals on, charge the DI2 battery, plug in the saddle..." and off you go. I don't accept any objection "then you should have just bought it from a dealer..." in this case, because (regardless of any price differences) you can't buy the bike within a radius of several hundred kilometers from where I am - if at all. And based on my good experience with a Lapierre fully, it should be a Lapierre again.
Everything I have just written about delivery and assembly has almost nothing to do with SportOkay's service and is not included in their evaluation. We have been buying from them for over 10 years and are still impressed by the processing, accessibility and flexibility.
If I remember, I will add a review of the bike in due course.
