Expensive, but the cheapest standard-tested chain link made of stainless steel.
Thick, heavy and oversized. Unfortunately, these are not available in 7mm, because according to the DAV's recommendations, 25kN breaking strength is sufficient for stands.
I used to use the galvanized chain links from the hardware store with a diameter of 8 mm for €0.50 each - they work, but they are not tested and could cause contact corrosion with a stainless steel link.
A good feeling and following the DAV recommendations cost money.

I bought the screw link as a sacrificial material, and it is perfect for that. It is a good width and the rope fits easily through the opening and also sits well inside the screw link. My rope has a diameter of 9.7 mm and it is perfect for that.

It is not too big and not too heavy but still has a high breaking load (50kn long, 12kn across). This makes it ideal as a cheap "sacrificial carabiner" for retreating from the route.

The only disadvantage is that the open gate is relatively small; a 9.6mm rope can still go through with little pressure. Larger ropes may have to be squeezed through or modified.
